Arsenal vs Swansea – Premier League preview and team news

Arsenal will be hoping to put their humiliation at Chelsea behind them as they take on struggling Swansea City in a must-win game at the Emirates Stadium.

Everything went wrong for manager Arsene Wenger in his 1,000th match in charge of the club at Stamford Bridge, as his side once again conceded a number of goals away to their title rivals, and with fixtures against Manchester City and Everton to come, it continues to be a relentless period for the North London club. Win this though, and they will be back to within four points of Chelsea.

Swansea battled hard at Everton on Saturday, but eventually slipped to another defeat which saw them drop to 15th place in the Premier League, and they ended up thankful that all of the bottom five lost their games. Relegation would still be a major shock, but Garry Monk is aware that results are needed quickly, and he may see this as an opportunity to add to Arsenal’s recent woes.

Kieran Gibbs will be available for Arsenal after being the victim of mistaken identity at Chelsea, when he sent off. The real offender, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, will also be available, but the hosts are still without several key players.

The away side could give Miguel Michu his first start since his return from injury, as well as Jonjo Shelvey, who played the final half hour at Everton.
