West Ham vs Hull – Premier League preview and team news

Bookmark and Share

By Stephen Donovan

Wednesday 26 March 2014

Victory for either West Ham United or Hull City at the Boleyn Ground on Tuesday evening should all but secure Premier League status for next season.

West Ham are looking to end a three game losing streak. After battling in vain at Everton and Stoke City, Sam Allardyce’s team were undone by the brilliance of Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney on Saturday. Despite huffing and puffing throughout, the Hammers did not really threaten a comeback, particularly after Rooney was gifted his second by Mark Noble’s errant clearance.

The Tigers eased the pressure considerably on Saturday as they comfortably defeated West Bromwich Albion to open up an eight point cushion to the bottom three, who all lost, and victory here would complete a fine first season back in the Premier League. Shane Long made the desired impact against his former club, scoring and winning a penalty, and the Irishman will be keen to play another key role here.

The home team could make changes from the Man Utd defeat, but Winston Reid is unlikely to play while Joey O’Brien and Marco Borriello are definitely out.

Hull are expected to name an unchanged team, with George Boyd still serving a ban, and Robbie Brady ruled out for the rest of the season.
