Hull City boss Steve Bruce was left annoyed by the decisions of referee Mike Dean after his team lost 2-1 at West Ham United on Wednesday, Sky Sports has reported.

The game-changing moment came on 25 minutes when Hull goalkeeper Allan McGregor was sent off for bringing down Mohamed Diame. Dean’s decision to award a penalty came some time after the incident took place, and McGregor also suffered kidney damage in making the challenge which forced him to spend the night in hospital.

Mark Noble scored from the spot, by Hull caused the hosts some problems with 10 men and equalised early in the second half when Nikica Jelavic deflected Tom Huddlestone’s free-kick past Adrian. Despite that, West Ham got the winner shortly after when visiting defender James Chester sliced into his own net.

After the game, Bruce was left to rue Dean’s decision to dismiss McGregor. He said: "We're hugely disappointed, but I couldn't have asked for anything more from them, they were absolutely superb on the night. With 10 men, to come to a place like West Ham, we totally dominated the game, in my opinion.

"We've got video evidence of the referee turning away from it, and I'm asking him Did he make the decision, was he listening to somebody', and he said he made the decision. When you look at him and analyse it, he's turned away from it and it's only when two players are down that he's made a decision.

"It's an innocuous challenge, he's got there first the lad, it may be a penalty, but to send him off...Is a penalty not enough? To send him off, for me he doesn't make that decision. It's hard enough to come to West Ham with 11, let alone 10. It's too often that we're talking about big games like this and ludicrous decisions that they keep constantly making."

Bruce should remember that the only reason Hull won the reverse fixture was the referee gave a penalty for a blatant dive by one of his players. What goes around comes around
