Newcastle manager Alan Pardew expects the club’s owner, Mike Ashley, to provide the funds to rebuild the squad this summer, Sky Sports has reported.

Pardew has said that he wants money to add to the attacking power in the side, with loan players Loic Remy and Luuk de Jong the only signings made in recent transfer windows in the forward positions.

The manager added that he believes Ashley wants to see new faces as much as he does. “Mike is very much aware. The one thing he likes in his teams is them to be on the front foot and trying to win the game,” Pardew said.

“I don't think he likes tactics where teams set out to defend deep and look to nick something, it's not the way he is. It's not his style and it's certainly not my style. We have talked about that, so that bodes well. He knows we need some attacking options.”

Newcastle are currently eighth in the Premier League table, 10 points off sixth place. Of the teams in the top half of the table, only Stoke City have scored fewer goals than Newcastle’s 38, with 36.

Pardew will be banned from the touchline for the trip to his former club Southampton this weekend after his hefty sanction for the incident involving Hull midfielder David Meyler, but he has completed the stadium ban portion of the punishment.
