Levy: No Tottenham overhaul

Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy has ruled out another summer of revolution at the club, Sky Sports has reported.

Last summer saw Tottenham sell Gareth Bale to Real Madrid and spend over £100m on new signings under Head Coach Andre Villas-Boas, a year after Villas-Boas was hired to replace Harry Redknapp.

Villas-Boas was however sacked in December, with Tim Sherwood appointed in his place. But speculation regarding Sherwood’s future has been rife as Netherlands Coach Louis van Gaal has publically angled for a job in the Premier League amid disappointing results under the incumbent.

Levy said on the club’s official website that he wants to see a strong end to the current campaign and insisted there would not be a third consecutive turbulent summer at White Hart Lane.

“This season we have had to make significant changes, both in respect of coaching and playing staff,” Levy said. “Whilst this season's performances and results have not lived up to expectation, we believe our squad has potential and it is important that we all now show commitment and teamwork to get the best possible finish to the season.

“Our focus therefore is to continue to invest in and develop the squad [but] we shall not look to a summer of major upheaval, rather to strengthen in key positions - to play the style of football for which we are famous.”

Tottenham are currently sixth in the Premier League table following a 4-0 defeat on Sunday by Liverpool at Anfield. They trail fifth-place Everton by four points and are a further four points back on London rivals Arsenal, who hold the final Champions League qualification place.
