Everton vs Arsenal - Premier League preview and team news

The race to finish in the top four takes centre stage at Goodison Park on Sunday as Arsenal make the trip to Everton.

With five wins in a row, the Toffees have all the momentum, and should they win this match, they will be just a point behind their opponents with a crucial game in hand. In their last game, against Fulham, the performance was actually somewhat below-par, but they still came away with all three points with Steven Naismith making more than the desired impact after replacing Ross Barkley at half time.

Arsenal, if they lose this match, will be well and truly looking over their shoulders. They come into this encounter in a very patchy run of form, although the second half performance against Manchester City last time out was a massive improvement. Mathieu Flamini scored the second half equaliser to provide the Gunners with a deserved point, and if anything, they looked the more likely team to win it.

For Everton, who have a woeful record against Arsenal home and away, Phil Jagielka is a major doubt, while Steven Pienaar, Darron Gibson, Arouna Kone and Bryan Oviedo are definitely out.

Aaron Ramsey could play a part after being named in the squad for this game, but the likes of Mesut Ozil, Theo Walcott and Jack Wilshere among others, remain sidelined.
