Sherwood set for dugout return

Tottenham boss Tim Sherwood insists that his planned return to the dugouts is nothing to do with recent irritation from fans seeing him watch from the stands, Sky Sports has reported.

Following a recent touchline dust up with Benfica manager Jorge Jesus and other cases of a flared temper, Sherwood has opted to watch his side the stands in recent matches.

This has not sat well with Tottenham fans however and even prompted chants of: “Where is our managers?” during the team’s heavy 4 - 0 defeat to Liverpool last weekend, but the Spurs man confirmed he would be on the touchline for their home clash with Sunderland.

Sherwood: “I'll be on the touchline on Monday - I'll be knocking out as many people as I can. I've had a lot of time to prepare this week. If they don't know what it's all about this week, then they ain't going to know. When you're playing against Liverpool and teams like that, I feel there was a technical mismatch between the two teams.

"We have to try to worry about them and they might need some adjusting during the game - they certainly did after 20 minutes. There was nothing we could do to turn it around, unfortunately.

Tottenham face relegation Sunderland knowing anymore slip ups will certainly end their fading hopes of a Champions League place for next season.
