Chelsea vs Paris St. Germain - Match preview and team news

Chelsea will hope to be firing on all cylinders when they take on Paris St. Germain in the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final, as they look to overturn a 3-1 deficit.

Manager Jose Mourinho believes his side can make the last four, but their task has been made a lot harder by the third goal thy conceded in the first leg, as Javier Pastore cut inside and fired past goalkeeper Petr Cech at his near post. The result did not reflect proceedings, as Chelsea had matched PSG for long spells, only to be let down by poor defending.

It meant a third straight away defeat for the Blues, so they will be relieved that this match takes place at Stamford Bridge, where they are famously hard to beat. Saturday’s 3-0 win over Stoke City was the ideal preparation, and a 2-0 win like the one they managed against a disappointing Galatasaray in the last round would be enough to make it through.

Paris St. Germain have spent big money over the past couple of seasons, and lined up in the first leg with a fearsome looking front three of Edinson Cavani, Ezequiel Lavezzi and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, but there did not look to be too much difference between the two sides. Ibrahimovic misses out here due to injury, but the visitors should still pose a threat on the counter attack.

The hosts are hopeful that Samuel Eto’o will be fit enough to play a part after suffering from a hamstring injury. Andre Schurrle has overcome a knock he picked up against Stoke and could play.
