Liverpool pressure no problem for Rodgers

Brendan Rodgers has said that far from feeling the pressure of Liverpool’s attempt to win the Premier League title, he is relishing the experience, Sky Sports has reported.

The Reds are currently four points clear of Manchester City, their opponents at Anfield on Sunday. City have two games in hand but a win for Rodgers’ side would extend the gap to seven points with Liverpool having four games to play.

Chelsea are second, two points behind Liverpool, and the Blues also have to travel to Anfield before the end of the season.

“I'm loving every minute of it,” Rodgers said. “This is brilliant. I may not have been in this position before, but I have been in football a long time. This is only my fifth year as a manager, but I've been stood on the touchline coaching for 20 years. I'm really enjoying seeing us develop.

“When you play and work for a club like Liverpool, there's pressure every day of your life. I walk past the European Cup every day when I come into the training ground. That can be pressure, but only if you let it be pressure.”

Rodgers added that he is not going to let Liverpool’s season peter out - and is confident the players are of the same mind as well. “We've worked hard all season to be in this position. Now we're there, we're going to fight and work even harder,” the former Swansea City boss went on.

“I've been through much worse things in my life than being in the title race at the top of the Premier League. It's insignificant in terms of some psychological things which have gone on,” Rodgers insisted.
