Hazard a doubt for Champions League semi-final
Chelsea could be without Eden Hazard for the Champions League semi-final after the Belgium international suffered a calf injury, ESPN has reported.
Hazard had to be substituted early in Chelsea’s 2-0 win over Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday as the Blues progressed via the away goals rule in a 3-3 draw.
Manager Jose Mourinho confirmed after the match that Hazard would be out for at least a few weeks, while Hazard revealed he first felt the problem during the warm-up. “I had already felt some pain in my calf during the warming-up. I didn't want to take a risk,” he said.
“It is some problem with this calf,” Mourinho added. “It's a muscular problem and, even when they are not serious, you cannot normally play for a couple of weeks, minimum, but I have no idea the dimension of his injury.”
Chelsea will definitely be without Branislav Ivanovic and will learn their opponents on Friday, when the draw for the final four is held. Real Madrid are also through after beating Borussia Dortmund 3-2 on aggregate, with the winners of the games between Atletico Madrid and Barcelona and Bayern Munich and Manchester United also entering the draw.
