Milner insists Man City will deliver Premier League title

Thursday 10 April 2014

Manchester City midfielder James Milner believes that while Liverpool should be considered favourites for the title their past winning experience will count in City’s favour, reports Sky Sports.

Liverpool have won their last nine games in a row will hope to make it a perfect ten when City visit Anfield this weekend in the crunch title clash that could ultimately decide where the crown goes.

And the England international thinks their dramatic clinching of the title back in 2012 proves they are capable of handling the pressures of the run in, but is unsure whether Liverpool have what it takes to end their 24 year wait for the Premier League title.

Milner said: “There is pressure on all the leading clubs and it's all down to who handles it the best. It should be a great game on Sunday.

"We've been here before and have won the title recently, whereas Liverpool haven't won for a long time.

"As the finishing line gets closer, games that looked easier a few weeks ago prove to be anything but.”

While Chelsea can be considered in the hunt for top spot too, two shock defeats at the hands of Aston Villa and Crystal Palace has seen then slip up and now considered outsiders.

Liverpool currently sit in first place, two points ahead of the Stamford Bridge club, while City are four behind but hold two games in hand on their rivals.

With the drama potentially set to go down to the last kick of the season, Liverpool and City will both be aware that any mistakes could open the door to their rivals and ultimately leave them empty handed.

Milner added: “We know that if we win all our remaining games, we would win the title - and the same applies to Liverpool - so it's definitely one of the biggest games of the season.

“Anfield is never an easy place to go at the best of times and they are top of the table and really playing well, scoring lots of goals and playing great football.

“Liverpool are in the box-seat because they are top and have the points already on the board so for me, they have to be favourites as things stand.”
