Crystal Palace boss Pulis expects Puncheon offers

Crystal Palace manager Tony Pulis believes the club will have to listen to summer offers for winger Jason Puncheon, Sky Sports has reported.

Jason Puncheon

Puncheon moved to Selhurst Park on a permanent basis in January, having been on loan with the Eagles from Southampton since the start of the season. With five goals in 14 Premier League games and a number of eye-catching displays, particularly in Palace’s 3-0 win over Cardiff City last weekend, Pulis expects interest in the 27-year-old.

And while the manager wants to keep Puncheon at the club, he cited the example of Tottenham Hotspur selling Gareth Bale as evidence that even clubs with greater resources than Palace have to let their best players go for the right price.

“If somebody comes in and makes an offer because Jason is playing so well, we'll look at that offer,” Pulis said. “That's the force of the market and it's what happens to the top players if they play well.

“Bale played extremely well for Tottenham and they ended up selling him to Real Madrid - it happens in every football club,” Pulis continued. “Jason is playing ever so well for us, we don't want to sell him and I don't think we'll be talking about selling him when the season is over.

“But personally I know that happens in football and you just get on with it.”

Puncheon’s double against the Welsh side helped ease Palace closer to top-flight safety, with the London club seven points clear of the bottom three before the visit of Aston Villa this Saturday.
