Swansea vs Chelsea - Premier League preview and team news

Sunday 13 April 2014

Chelsea will be looking to avoid a fourth successive away defeat as they play Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium, a venue where they are winless in three previous visits.

The home side are still in need of a few more points to make sure of safety after a disappointing display at Hull City last time out. It was another game which illustrated the lack of consistency the Welsh club has been showing since Garry Monk took over first-team duties from Michael Laudrup. The only two complete performances have yielded wins, against Cardiff City and Norwich City.

Jose Mourinho’s team come into this game on a high after defeating Paris St. Germain thanks to a dramatic late Demba Ba goal, to reach the semi-finals of the Champions League. Depending on the result of the game between Liverpool and Manchester City, the Blues could go top with a win here, but Mourinho will be demanding an improvement on the road after lacklustre performances at Aston Villa and Crystal Palace.

Swansea could make changes after the Hull defeat, with Jose Canas, Nathan Dyer, Pablo Hernandez and Roland Lamah all pushing for recalls.

Eden Hazard and captain John Terry are both major doubts for Chelsea after picking injuries against PSG, while Ramires returns from a three-match ban.
