Spurs boss Sherwood likens Eriksen to Bergkamp

Tottenham boss Tim Sherwood believes striker Christian Eriksen is as cool as Dutch legend Dennis Bergkamp, according to The Daily Mail.

Eriksen grabbed a late equalizer as Tottenham scraped a point against West Brom at the weekend, and Sherwood was eager to point out the similarities between the Dane and the Dutchman, who ironically served Spurs’ bitter rivals Arsenal as a player for 11 years between 1995-2006.

When questioned about the goal scored by his 22-year-old star, Sherwood replied: “Bergkamp-esque.

“You want someone to rush those chances as an opposition manager but unfortunately when it lands to him you know he’s going to be ice cold.

“Once he cut inside I knew the net was catching the ball.”

The goal came at the culmination of a game that had seen the struggling Baggies – yet to win a game at the Hawthorns under Pepe Mel – lead by an impressive three goal margin, before Jonas Olsson turned the ball into his own net. Harry Kane gave the guests hope when his header found the back of the net, before Eriksen’s injury-time equaliser.

The Baggies now find themselves just three points above the relegation zone, while Tottenham are trying hard to maintain their European push, though they currently sit four points behind Bergkamp’s former employers Arsenal, who also have a game in hand.
