Fulham midfielder Damien Duff has announced that he will be leaving the club in the summer in search of something new, according to Sky Sports.

The Former Chelsea man’s contract expires at the end of the season and has come to acknowledge that he will not be offered a new deal.

The 35-year-old has sat out most of the season with a knee-injury and is now preparing himself for his time as a free agent once the season comes to a conclusion.

"I'm up at the end of the season. The club haven't spoken to me and I haven't spoken to the club, but we don't need to speak - I'll be leaving Fulham," said Duff.

"I've had a great time here, but that's football.

"I've had a few whispers from here and there, but I'm just trying to get this (knee) right first.

The former Republic of Ireland international admitted that he is considering a spell in Australia or America, to start things fresh somewhere new.

Many older Premier League players have made the switch from England to the MLS and it is now a preferred option for players looking to call time on their career.

"I've looked at the Australia or America thing for a bit - it would be a different way of life, a different league,” added Duff.

"I think life's too short just to be stuck in the rat race, if that's the right phrase, over here so I'd maybe like to taste something new before I go back home."
