Liverpool trio Daniel Sturridge, Luis Suarez and Steven Gerrard have been named on the six-man shortlist for the PFA Player’s Player of the Year award, Sky Sports has reported.

The three are joined by Chelsea’s Eden Hazard, Southampton midfielder Adam Lallana and Yaya Toure, the Manchester City midfielder. The winner of the award will be announced on April 27.

Gerrard won the prize in 2006 and was named Young Player of the Year in 2001. This year’s Young Player of the Year nominees are Raheem Sterling, also of Liverpool, Everton’s Ross Barkley, Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey and Southampton left-back Luke Shaw. Sturridge and Hazard are also up for the Young Player gong.

Liverpool are currently top of the Premier League, leading Hazard’s Chelsea by two points. Toure’s City are third, four points back on Chelsea, while Southampton have spent the season in the upper reaches of the table and Lallana and Shaw have broken into the England set-up.

Barkely has also made his England debut during his first full season in the Everton first team while the form of Ramsey saw the Gunners top the league before Christmas.
