Bruce 'baffled' by Wenger criticism
Hull City manager Steve Bruce has said he doesn’t understand how his Arsenal counterpart Arsene Wenger could be criticised in the manner he has been this season, Sky Sports has reported.
The sides meet on Sunday, a few weeks before playing each other at Wembley in the FA Cup final, and Bruce has told his pre-match Press conference in his opinion, Wenger’s track record should count for more in the eyes of his critics.
“For me, the manager gets unfair criticism,” Bruce said of Wenger. “The guy has done an amazing job for the last 17 years...16 of those in the top four is a remarkable achievement considering he hasn't had the funds all the other big clubs have had.
“He's not everybody's cup of tea but the one thing you must say is his teams play a fantastic way and he's proved to be one of the greats as far as I'm concerned.
“He's not had the spending power of the big, huge clubs in Europe but he's always been competing - semi-finals, finals, the final of the Champions League. With his record how we're even questioning him baffles me.”
Hull go into the game in 13th place, six points clear of the bottom three and with 31 points fewer than the Gunners, who are fourth. Arsenal won the first meeting between the sides this season, at the Emirates Stadium in December, 2-0, with goal from Nicklas Bendtner and Mesut Ozil.
