Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has been declared fit to face his former club Everton on Sunday, according to Sky Sports.

The England international suffered a toe injury in the Champions League quarter-final first-leg against Bayern Munich and played through the injury in the return leg.

With United’s striking options lacking with forward Robin Van Persie sidelined, the club will be happy to welcome Rooney back to the team as they try to secure European football next season.

"Wayne Rooney has trained great this week. He is in really good form. Getting him back is a good thing,” said the Scot.

"He just wasn't right with his toe at times in the last game."

England fans will also be hoping to see the 28-year-old back to full fitness to boost the squad ahead of the World Cup this summer.

Moyes will also be the center of attention going into Sunday’s match as it is his first return to Goodison Park after spending 11 years as Everton manager.

"The game is not about me, it's about Everton and Manchester United," he said.

"I was proud to be manager of Everton at that time but my job now is to make sure I get a result for Manchester United. The fans were always terrific in my time there, they were very supportive and always right behind the team.

"We had some really big games there at times and they'll be supporting the team like the Manchester United supporters have for their team."
