Roma to make loan bid for Tottenham midfielder Paulinho
Serie A high-flyers Roma are strongly considering the possibility of making a bid to sign Tottenham’s Brazilian midfielder Paulinho, according to the Metro.
Rudi Garcia’s side are interested in Paulinho as they are expecting star winger Miralem Pjanic to move on this summer, with Paris St. Germain set to tempt the Bosnian away from the Stadio Olimpico. Roma are hoping to sign Paulinho initially on loan, with a view to making the deal permanent as the end of next season.
Paulinho, who expected to be a key player for the host nation in the World Cup in June and July, was one of several big-money signings made by Tottenham last summer, but he has struggled to make a significant impact, like several of his other teammates including Erik Lamela, Roberto Soldado and Nacer Chadli.
So far in his Spurs career, the 25-year-old has scored six goals in 33 appearances in all competitions, but has found first-team opportunities harder to come by in recent weeks, making just two Premier League starts since the beginning of March.
