Norwich vs Liverpool - Premier League preview and team news

By Stephen Donovan

Saturday 19 April 2014

Liverpool travel to struggling Norwich City for an early kick-off on Sunday looking to move a step closer to winning their first league title for 24 years.

By the time this match begins, Norwich could find themselves in the bottom three. The defeat to Fulham last time out could prove fatal, despite a performance full of hard work and endeavour, something that was missing in the final few away games of Chris Hughton’s reign. However, their profligacy now means that they will probably need at least five points from four very difficult fixtures in order to stay up.

Given their, and in particular Luis Suarez’ recent record against Norwich, Liverpool fans could be forgiven for thinking that the Uruguayan will take care of the Canaries single-handedly once again. If there has been any pressure on them so far, they have not shown it, and victory over Manchester City despite an early second half wobble means they are now title favourites, although it’s Chelsea up next.

Norwich boss Neil Adams could hand recalls to Gary Hooper and Wes Hoolahan, while defender Sebastian Bassong is a slight doubt having missed the defeat at Craven Cottage.

The visitors are waiting on the fitness of Daniel Sturridge after the striker picked up a hamstring problem. Jordan Henderson begins a three-match ban, so Lucas Leiva is likely to take his place.
