Eriksen could leave Tottenham, fears Sherwood

Tottenham Head Coach Tim Sherwood has said that he fears that playmaker Christian Eriksen could be a transfer target for some of Europe’s top clubs this summer, the Daily Mail has reported.

Christian Eriksen

Eriksen only joined Tottenham last summer, in an £11.5m deal from Ajax, but a series of impressive performances in recent weeks have led Sherwood admitting that the club could be forced into selling the player this summer, with the Dane still among Europe’s most highly-rated players.

The North London club have lost Luka Modric and Gareth Bale to Real Madrid over the last two summers, and he believes that Eriksen’s form could mean he is the subject of a bidding war this summer. He said: ‘Christian doesn’t see the pressure, doesn’t feel the pressure, as it is embedded in him as he works so hard on it every day.

‘He has just turned 22 but has the head of a 35-year-old. He knows when to speed it up and slow it down. You are always fearful that someone might come and take one of your best players and Christian is certainly one.’

The 22-year-old Eriksen, who has 42 caps for Denmark, has scored 10 goals and made 12 assists in 33 appearances so far for Tottenham.
