Mourinho hints at weakened side to face Liverpool

Jose Mourinho may well ask Chelsea owner Roman Abromovich if he can field a weaker team against Liverpool and concede the Premier League title race, the Telegraph is reporting.

The Chelsea boss is thought to be angry at the fixture being played on Sunday, reducing the time his players have to recover and prepare for their second leg semi final tie of the Champions League against Atletico Madrid.

If he takes the decision to field an under strength XI it is likely to anger fellow title rivals Manchester City and Premier League officials.

But the Portuguese believes he should be receiving more help from league officials as he is representing English football on the European stage.

Mourinho said: “The fact that the match is on Sunday, I think puts the problem not in my hands but in the hands of those who decide the game should be on Sunday and not Saturday or Friday.

“We represent English football and are the only team in European competitions. Spain has four and gave them all the conditions to try to have success, so I know what I would do.

“But I’m not the club. I have to speak to them.”

Were Liverpool to beat Chelsea it would be unlikely that the Premier League crown would go anywhere but to Anfield, with the Blue’s chances being ended in the process.

The first leg saw several concerns arise for Mourinho - Petr Cech and John Terry have been ruled out by injury while John Obi Mikel and Frank Lampard find themselves suspended for the return leg.

When pushed on whether he would take the drastic decision of sacrificing the title Mourinho added: “I’m not the most important person in the club. Roman and the board, everybody is above me. I work for them and have to follow what my club decides. My priority is the Champions League.”

I think that is still trying to lure people with what he has forced us to call 'mind games'; ...trying to make everyone forget the blunders his words/acts after his defeat to Sunderland; ...trying to escape the consequences (and possible FA sanctions) of his acts and those of his assistant coach after that defeat; ...trying to convince himself that his mind games will perturb/distract the mighty reds before Sunday; FA must also have a look at the number of players they have bought and ... sent on loan

I think we should play, our futre stars at Anfield, i mean not all of them. As a massive Chelsea fan and seaon ticket, holder i have also seen our yougters play and beleive me we have great exiting players that are just waiting to lighten up the premiership. We should give cofidence to them, because even thou we still have a narrow chance of wining the premireship i think they could do really well for us. Especially with Jose in the dugout we could spring a supprise at Anfield on Sunday. Back to the champions league great result for us, if we can defend like we did in the 1st leg and catch Atheltico on the break we will this match. I know JT and Cech are out till the end of season, but we still have Mark schawtze who really impressed me in goal, and that we have Brana to come back from suspension, + Hazard to return. However we have to give respect to Atheltico because they like us will fight to the end to win. cfc for life!!

It's better to field a second tier team going by what the sentiment about liverpool wining it for the first time since the premiership inception.
