Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has claimed that the club’s owners are happy with the direction that the club is heading in, according to Sky Sports.

After finishing in seventh place last season Liverpool have made a bid for the Premier League title with just three games remaining and have secured Champions League football next season.

Rodgers met with the club’s principal owners John W Henry and chairman Tom Werner earlier this month and revealed that they are happy with the club’s progress.

"It was great to have the owners over," said Rodgers. "It was nice for them because it was such a huge game [against Manchester City] and obviously it was an emotional time around the Hillsborough anniversary.

"I think they saw the development of the club and of the team and they were very complimentary. It's important for them to see that progress across the football club.

"They are absolutely delighted with what they've seen over the past 20 months and we talked about how we can keep the club moving forward because that's vitally important.

The 41-year-old has also said that he is determined to keep the Merseyside club moving forward.

There have also been reports suggesting that the Reds will be handed a £60 million transfer budget in the summer as the club looks to add depth to prepare for the combination of domestic and European football next season.

"It's been an ongoing process since I arrived here. We don't want it to be just for this season, we want to sustain it over a longer period,” added Rodgers.

"That's something that was pretty clear for us all in the discussions we had when I came in. We wanted to establish something that would be in place for a long time."
