Newcastle manager Alan Pardew has already turned his attention to the players he wishes to sign this summer, Sky Sports has reported.

A number of players are expected to leave the Magpies while as many as eight will arrive, it is claimed, and Pardew has revealed he is already plotting the club’s business. “We've looked at a couple things last week that might be opportunities for us,” he told the Shields Gazette.

“And we also looked at a couple players for the summer. That's an area we need to get to, but we'll be in a good position in the summer, I think. But we need to get there first.”

Newcastle are currently ninth in the Premier League table with 46 points from 35 games. The Tyneside club have lost their last five matches and face Champions League chasers Arsenal, relegation threatened Cardiff City and league leaders Liverpool in their final three fixtures.

Yohan Cabaye was sold to Paris Saint-Germain in the January transfer window, with Luuk De Jong joining on loan from Gladbach, while last summer saw only Loic Remy arrive at the club in a major move.
