West Brom vs West Ham - Premier League preview and team news

West Bromwich Albion will be hoping to take a big step towards securing Premier League survival as they take on West Ham United at the Hawthorns.

A failure to close out games, most recently at home to Tottenham, has been Albion’s downfall throughout the season, leaving them in a perilous position just three points above the drop zone. They failed to ease their relegation fears at Manchester City on Monday, where they were hit by conceding two early goals. However, they did show some encouraging signs going forward which they can take into this must-win match.

Three successive defeats have left West Ham with still a little bit of work to do if they are to be sure of Premier League football for next season. Scoring goals is still proving to be a problem despite the presence of Andy Carroll, who is still not fully-fit. Manager Sam Allardyce will know that just one more win will ensure safety, and he will be hoping for his side to capitalise as most of the pressure will be on the hosts.

Pepe Mel will be hoping to restore Gareth McAuley to central defence after the Northern Irishman missed the Man City game with a calf injury, but Liam Ridgewell is likely to miss out.

West Ham will again be without on-loan striker Marco Borriello, while Matt Taylor is unavailable for personal reasons.
