Sherwood: Players will shake Adam's hand

Tottenham manager Tim Sherwood will make sure his players shake Charlie Adam’s hand ahead of the league clash with Stoke City tomorrow afternoon, according to

The newspaper had revealed that some of the Spurs players were considering snubbing the midfielder, who has been sent off twice against Tottenham, but Sherwood has insisted that all of his players will shake Adam’s hand.

He said: “I am aware of the reports and it is nonsense. The players will do their duty and shake hands along that line to show respect to their opponents.

"I have not heard the boys talking about Charlie Adam at all. They are just concentrating on the game. I don't think it is a problem at all.

"I would hate to think every time I tackled badly the opponent would not shake my hand. I would never have had a handshake.”

Adam was the centre of attention in December after injuring Paulinho in the reverse clash at White Hart Lane between the sides, which saw the Brazilian ruled out for a month with ankle ligament damage.

It wasn't the first time he had put a Spurs star on the sidelines after clashing with Gareth Bale twice, once as a Blackpool player and the second whilst he was at Liverpool.
