Magath frustrated by Hull draw

Fulham manager Felix Magath was left frustrated after his relegation-threatened side threw away a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 at home to Hull City, Sky Sports has reported.

The failure to hold on to their lead means Fulham are still in the Premier League’s bottom three, with only two games left to play. The Cottagers first travel to Stoke City, before ending the campaign at home to Crystal Palace on May 11.

After a first half lacking in any real goalmouth action, Fulham took the lead on 55 minutes when half time substitute Ashkan Dejagah found the top corner. The advantage was soon doubled when Fernando Amorebieta glanced home Kieran Richardson’s cross.

However, the home side always looked shaky in defence, and Hull pulled one back in fortunate circumstances when Nikica Jelavic was in the right place to pounce after Sascha Riether had diverted the ball against his own crossbar. And after several near misses, Hull got their equaliser three minutes from time when Shane Long headed home at the far post.

After the game, Magath was rueful of his side allowing their lead to slip. He said: "Yeah we are very disappointed for sure because we have played very well and were leading 2-0 and then unfortunately we conceded a goal and get a lot of pressure. So it was only a point and today we have to make three points not only one so we are disappointed."

Despite that, the German was still confident that his side could still stay up, adding: "Yes for sure [Fulham can stay up]. At the moment we lose two points that's bad for sure but we have to go on and we have two chances to take six points in the next two games."
