Arsenal winger Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is a slight doubt for the FA Cup final after manager Arsene Wenger revealed he has an inflammation of the groin, the Independent has reported.

Oxlade-Chamberlain, who has scored three goals in 20 appearances for Arsenal this season, watched Monday’s 3-0 win over Newcastle United from the stands, and after the game Wenger admitted that he is unlikely to feature in either of their two remaining Premier League games, but should be fit for the World Cup.

He said: “He [Oxlade-Chamberlain] has an inflammation of his groin. He couldn't practise. I put him on Friday on the team sheet and played him when he was needed, but it came to a point where it didn't progress. We decided to give him a complete rest for two weeks. Will he be involved with me? I think he has a chance. But will he be ready for England? I think so.”

Wenger was also asked about the fitness of Jack Wilshere, who has already been out for nearly two months, but could not provide any guarantees as to when the midfielder would be back in action. He added: “Jack is training already. When will he be ready? Honestly I cannot tell you exactly. Next week or the week after... at the moment the progress he's making is good.”
