Surman will wait before thrashing out Norwich future

Norwich midfielder Andrew Surman is prepared to wait until the end of the season before his long-term future is decided, according to Sky Sports.

Andrew Surman

Surman has spent this season on loan at Bournemouth – his second overall spell with the club - but has another year to run on his current contract at Carrow Road, but believes that his future will not be decided until the Canaries know in which league they will be plying their trade next season, and possibly following the arrival of a new permanent manager.

He has not spoken with Cherries boss Eddie Howe about a permanent move to the Championship club, and says he hasn’t spoken much with Norwich yet either.

Speaking to the Eastern Daily Press, Surman said: "I haven't really had any contact with Norwich. I still have a year there left but until I sit down at the end of the season and speak to the gaffer here and see what he wants to do, and obviously what Norwich want to do, then I can assess it but, as of now, I haven't really got enough information from either side to see what I am going to do.

“It's still pretty unknown. If Norwich were relegated that would possibly affect things. I couldn't honestly say. Either way they have quite a big squad there but with relegation that probably means offloading players so you never know.

“I won't know until possibly a new manager comes in and I speak to him and then I will have a better idea.”

Surman started his career at Southampton, where he made 133 appearances over a five year spell before moving to Wolves. That five year tenure also included stints on loan at Walsall and Bournemouth. He struggled to make an impact at Molineux, and moved to East Anglia after a single season in the Midlands.
