Roma consider summer bid for Lukaku
Italian high-flyers Roma are considering the possibility of making a summer move to sign striker Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea, according to Talksport.
Lukaku will return to Chelsea at the end of the season after his loan spell at Everton comes to an end. The player has recently stated that Blues manager Jose Mourinho will decide where he will be for 2014-15, whether he will stay, be sold or loaned out once again.
The Belgian has impressed considerably while at Goodison Park, scoring 14 goals in 31 appearances and adding to the reputation he forged for himself in an equally positive season on loan at West Bromwich Albion.
However, with Everton’s chances of making next season’s Champions League beginning to look slim, their hopes of bringing Lukaku back for next season could be dashed by Roma, who are already guaranteed a place in Europe’s premier competition.
Roma are hoping to initially sign Lukaku on loan for a year or two years, with a view to signing him on a permanent basis, but their chances of capturing the 20-year-old for the long term rest on whether he decides to extend his contract at Chelsea, which expires in the summer of 2016.
