Bony is ‘unplayable’, insists Swansea teammate de Guzman
Midfielder Jonathan de Guzman has said that his in-form Swansea City teammate Wilfried Bony is ‘unplayable’, and will be a really important player for the club next season, reports the South Wales Evening Post.
Bony initially struggled to make a significant impact in the Premier League after becoming Swansea’s record signing last summer, arriving from Vitesse Arnhem for £13m after topping the Dutch Eredivisie’s scoring charts for last season.
However, an injury sustained by Miguel Michu, Swansea’s top marksman last season, helped Bony get a run in the starting XI and has now become the sixth highest scorer in the Premier League with 16 goals in 32 games including four in consecutive victories over Newcastle United and Aston Villa which have saved the club from the threat of relegation.
And de Guzman believes that Bony can only get better for next season. He said: "He's unplayable at the moment. He's been scoring goals and he's been a great help, especially in a period where we've been trying to get back to some good times.
"Last year we had Michu getting the goals but it's been tough for him so far, but Wilf has come in and done really well. He's shown he's had no problems adapting. It took a little time at the start but that's natural.
"He has the respect of everyone now, not just in our dressing room. He's exactly what we need in a passing side, with his strength and the way he holds up the ball. He doesn't just score, he assists them as well and is involved in a big way in our play."
