Belgium Coach blames Moyes for Fellaini's Man Utd form

Belgium Coach Marc Wilmots has said the blame lies with David Moyes for the poor displays of Marouane Fellaini at Manchester United, ESPN has reported.

Marouane Fellaini

Fellaini followed Moyes to Old Trafford from Everton, leaving Goodison Park in a £27.5m move last summer, but hasn’t replicated the form that he displayed under Moyes with the Toffees.

Moyes was sacked as United manager last month while Fellaini was left out of the squad to play Norwich City by Ryan Giggs, the interim United boss.

Wilmots has told a newspaper in Belgium that Moyes was using Fellaini in the wrong position, but added that the midfielder’s form would not lead to him being left out of the Red Devils’ World Cup squad.

“I don't understand why Manchester United bought him to play him in a system of two number sixes. Marouane is a box-to-box player,” Wilmots told Het Laatste Nieuws.

“I have no doubts about Marouane [for the World Cup]. It’s a good chance for him to take revenge.”

Fellaini has played 20 times for United this season, without scoring, compared to the 12 goals in 36 games he recorded in his final year as an Everton player. In total, Fellaini made 177 appearances for Everton, scoring 33 goals, having moved to Merseyside from Standard Liege in 2008 for a club record fee.
