Ronald de Boer backs brother Frank for Tottenham job

Netherlands legend Ronald de Boer has backed his twin brother Frank to be a success at Tottenham should the Ajax boss end up at White Hart Lane, according to Sky Sports.

Frank, who currently manages Ajax, has been linked with the job at Spurs despite incumbent boss Tim Sherwood still occupying the hotseat, and despite the north London club claiming no approaches have been made for any other managers Sherwood is not expected to complete the final year of the contract awarded to him following the sacking of Andre Villas-Boas in December.

Those reports are now coming to light, though the former Blackburn Premier League winner has vehemently denied that he is going anywhere, warning fellow managers off the job. Ajax claim that Spurs contacted them about de Boer’s availability last month – a claim the manager himself backs up – and Ronald, currently youth coach at Ajax, thinks the move could be a good one for all concerned.

“It is a nice club with history, one of the nicest clubs in the Premiership. The club has ambition and the budget for it,” said Ronald, who spent a four-year spell in Scotland with Rangers between 2000-2004.

“Frank knows some of the players there, like (Christian) Eriksen and (Jan) Vertonghen - (Nacer) Chadli and (Mousa) Dembele too - there's lots of quality at the club. I think he can build something.

“Frank's feeling is important, the club's philosophy is as well - what kind of football they want to play - that will be decisive. He will take his time, to think about it.”
