Newcastle manager Alan Pardew has called for the backing of Newcastle supporters as the club is currently facing its worst run of results in 27 years, according to Sky Sports.

The Magpies are currently on a run of six straight defeats, their worst run of results in the top division since 1987 and Pardew has said that it is the ‘toughest run’ of his career.

Despite several fan protests against the team and management and rumours of disputes with players, the 52-year-old has called for fans to put the club first.

"The team comes first. At the end of the day this is not about me, Hatem [Ben Arfa] or any individual player,” said Pardew.

"This club is a lot bigger than that, and it needs to show that on Saturday. It needs to show we're a big club, support the team that gets picked and hopefully to a victory."

"I'm very proud to be manager of Newcastle and I always have been. I'll fight for that position because I love being manager here.”

Pardew admitted that the results have not been good enough for a club of Newcastle’s size and has said that the club has faced a difficult run-in.

Now the manager has called for the Tyneside club to turn it around starting with the match on Saturday and hopes that the fans will be on their side.

"The most important thing is to try and get a stadium on Saturday that gives us a chance. We need to make sure we put in a performance in that first 20-25 minutes that gets the stadium on our side and gives us platform to try and win the game.

"Everyone at Newcastle, within and throughout those who support us, wants us to win - and we want to get that win for them."
