Sakho focusing firmly on final two Liverpool games

Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho says the team’s focus is only on winning the final two games after the Red’s title ambitions were dented last Sunday, Liverpoolfc.com has reported.

The Merseyside club suffered their first defeat of 2014 after a 2-0 home defeat to Chelsea ending a 16 game unbeaten run.

But despite the loss, Sakho insists the players should just keep on going as normal as they head into the final couple of games.

He said: “We have to remain calm and relaxed. Like I said, everything is going well, even though we lost that game. But that defeat, it's in the past now, it's behind us.

"We now have to focus on what's ahead of us, meaning the next two games. And we mustn't change anything, we should remain true to ourselves and play our own game and then try and win those two matches so we can grab those six points” he added.

Brendan Rodgers men could be third by the time they play on Monday with Chelsea playing on Sunday at home Norwich and Manchester City on Saturday evening against Everton.

The Red’s currently sit top of the table two points clear of Chelsea and three of City, who have a game in hand and the greater goal difference of the three clubs.

Liverpool travel to Crystal Palace on Monday before hosting Newcastle United in their final game of the season a week on Sunday.
