Hull target permanent deal for Livermore

Hull City have made signing on-loan Tottenham midfielder Jake Livermore their main priority for their transfer business this summer, according to the Hull Daily Mail.

Livermore was brought to the KC Stadium on a season-long loan on the same day as Tom Huddlestone was signed for £5m last summer, and while Huddlestone has received many of the plaudits for Hull’s strong performances this season, the 24-year-old has also proved to be a key player in the midfield.

Due to the number of midfield options available against Tottenham and the lack of a guarantee over a first-team place, it is thought that Livermore will be open to making his move to Humberside permanent, having only missed two Premier League games this season - both because he was ineligible to face his parent club.

Manager Steve Bruce has revealed that he is intent on bringing Livermore back for next season. "I'll do everything I can to buy Jake," he said. "He's Tottenham's player, so we have to enter negotiations with Tottenham and we'll do that when we're safe.

"All things being equal, Jake would like to stay here. Why wouldn't he? He's played every week. He and Tom (Huddlestone) have done fantastically well. The first piece of business I'll try to do is to secure Jake if I can.

"He's had an absolutely terrific year. Five or six weeks ago, I thought I was itching to give him a rest for a couple of weeks but he's come back flying again. I thought his performance in the FA Cup semi-final was immense. He stood head and shoulders above most on the day."
