Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has warned his players that they still have work to do to win the title despite clearing a large hurdle with a 3-2 win at Everton on Saturday, BBC Sport has reported.

The 2012 Premier League champions had to come from behind to get their win, as Ross Barkley’s stunning strike gave Everton the lead on 11 minutes. It was Sergio Aguero who got their equaliser, firing powerfully inside the near post.

The Argentine would soon be taken off as a precaution with a groin problem, but Man City built a 3-1 lead early in the second half thanks to two goals from Edin Dzeko. Romelu Lukaku did pull one back for the hosts but City held on for a result which now leaves them needing to win home games against Aston Villa and West Ham United in order to win the league.

But despite the momentous nature of the result, Pellegrini has urged caution ahead of his side’s final two games, saying: ‘It is a huge step towards winning the title but my message was the same as it was after we lost at Liverpool - the title is not over.

"We have to win our games and we will start preparing for the game against Aston Villa on Sunday. Everton have been in a very good moment and it was a very important victory."
