Man Utd deserve criticism, says Evra
Manchester United left-back Patrice Evra has admitted that his side deserve to be criticised for the disappointing season they have endured, Sky Sports has reported.
Last season’s Premier League champions lost for the eighth time at home this season in all competitions on Saturday as they slipped to a 1-0 defeat to Sunderland, a result which ensured they will finish seventh, their lowest ever Premier League finish, and with their lowest points tally.
The Community Shield is the only piece of silverware the club has won this season, with the consistently poor results accounting for manager David Moyes after their failure to qualify for the 2014-15 Champions League was confirmed.
And Evra, who has won 15 trophies since joining in Man Utd in January 2006, has admitted that the players have deserved some of the criticism they have received. He said: "This year has been a disaster. This year we have been really poor. We deserve all the criticism. We have not played well enough. We have lost some stupid games.
"When we are on the pitch we try to win every game but it's been so painful this season, it's been a nightmare. When I look at the table I just feel a big frustration. This year is a season I want to forget really quickly."
