Fulham manager Felix Magath has said that he plans on using the club’s youth players to inject new life into his Fulham side after they were relegated from the Premier League, Sky Sports reports.

The Cottagers suffered a 4-1 defeat at the hands of Stoke on Saturday and were condemned to relegation along with Cardiff leaving them with the prospect of Championship football next season.

Despite the drop, Magath has insisted he wants to stay at Fulham and help rebuild and earn promotion to the Premier League and he will start by watching the side’s academy players in the Youth Cup final.

"The first thing for me is to look at our academy and look for players who can join us in the next season," said Magath.

"I will be going to the Youth Cup final to start planning the future. I don't think to do anything else except stay at Fulham and build a new team - that was the idea when I came.

"It is clear we have to change something. I want to have success with Fulham in the next years. I will talk about the situation with the owner and we will start to come back.”

Fulham travel to face Chelsea in the second leg of the Youth Cup final and bring a 3-2 lead with them to make sure it is perfectly poised for an interesting second-leg.

Magath has assured fans that he will work hard and is prepared to build the team back to a Premier League standard again.

"Fulham are a club with a very good youth academy so the club have to build up not only for youth teams but build for the professionals,” added Magath.

"For me, it has to work; to build up a team with players partly from our academy. I am prepared for that situation. We have a lot of work because we have to change some things if Fulham will become a club which can be a part of the Premier League."
