Man Utd vs Hull - Premier League preview and team news

Hull City provide the opposition as Manchester United look to end their most difficult season at Old Trafford in the Premier League era with a victory.

A below-par performance and a 1-0 defeat to Sunderland on Saturday burst the bubble somewhat on the air of positivity that had surrounded Ryan Giggs’ appointment as interim manager.

The Welshman will not allow his side’s standards to slip again here despite having little to play for, particularly when they hope to give Nemanja Vidic the perfect send-off. It could even be the last appearance at the Theatre of Dreams for the likes of Rio Ferdinand and Patrice Evra, with plenty of changes expected over the summer.

The visitors might have more than half on eye on their upcoming date at Wembley for the FA Cup final, after their Premier League safety was secured in spite of going down 3-1 at Aston Villa on a day when they defended uncharacteristically poorly. Manager Steve Bruce will relish the opportunity to finally defeat his old club for the first time as a manager.

Man Utd will be without Wayne Rooney, who continues to suffer from a groin problem. Robin van Persie could make his first start since March after coming off the bench against Sunderland.

James Chester will miss out for Hull after injuring himself at Villa Park, while Sone Aluko is a doubt for the FA Cup final after picking up an ankle injury in training.
