Reed confirms talks with Pochettino over Southampton future
Southampton executive director Les Reed has revealed that the club will discuss Mauricio Pochettino’s future at St. Mary’s with the Argentinian after the conclusion of the Premier League season, reports BBC Sport.
Reed also added the Pochettino himself has agreed to holding the meetings once the game at home to Man Utd is done and dusted, referencing recent reports linking the former Espanyol boss with jobs elsewhere.
“Mauricio has made it clear as soon as Sunday's game is out of the way we will sit down and continue the discussions we will be having. He wanted to achieve the record points total and focus on the games and nothing else.
“This is one of the issues of being successful, everyone is attracting attention.”
Reed also dismissed continued reports linking Saints’ star players such as Luke Shaw and Adam Lallana with moves away from the south coast club, at least for the time being.
He continued: “It's been very easy because none of it is true, there are no deals done and no deals being discussed.
“I'm not saying it's not going to happen, but at the moment nothing is being discussed.”
Pochettino arrived at the Premier League outfit following the dismissal of Nigel Adkins in January 2013, but any concerns the club’s fans had over the appointment appear to have been largely laid to rest with the club – who were plying their trade in League One as recently as 2010 – now garaunteed to finish the season in eighth.
They are six clear of Newcastle with only a single game remaining, but five behind Man Utd, who they host in the final game of the season on Sunday.
