Man City vs Aston Villa - Premier League preview and team news

Manchester City will be on the brink of winning the Premier League title for the second time in three years if they can see off Aston Villa at the Etihad Stadium.

After Liverpool dramatically threw away a three-goal lead to draw with Crystal Palace on Monday, Manuel Pellegrini’s men need just four points from their last two games in order to become champions, which eases the pressure considerably. Last time out, they overcame what was seen as their toughest test remaining at Everton, with Edin Dzeko’s goals again proving hugely important.

The visitors will be feeling very relieved as they make this trip. The win over Hull City at the weekend guaranteed Premier League safety and meant that they would not have to come into this match still desperately needing points. Villa have conceded a total of 13 goals in their last three visits to Man City, but with the pace they have on the counter attack and the recent return to form of Andreas Weimann, they can always pose a threat.

Sergio Aguero came off with a groin injury shortly after scoring at Goodison Park and Man City remain without him here, but Yaya Toure and Jesus Navas should be available.

Aston Villa have doubts over Gabriel Agbonlahor, who was injured against Hull, while Joe Bennett is also likely to miss out.
