Manchester City defender Martin Demichelis has warned his side that they have won nothing yet, despite having the Premier League title firmly within their reach, according to Mcfc.com.

City are set to face Aston Villa on Wednesday night in their game in hand over title rivals Liverpool and a point would see them go back to the top of the table.

With just two games remaining for the Citizens maximum points would see the trophy return to the Etihad, but the Argentinean believes they cannot get complacent now.

“There's been many unexpected results in the last fixtures, and that proves that in football, or sport in general, until you win you cannot take anything for granted,” said Demichelis.

"We should not believe the title is finished."

“The Liverpool Palace game is a great lesson. They were winning 3-0 and in 12 minutes Palace drew. It seemed impossible but Liverpool dropped points and it was a big surprise, so it's a great lesson for us to learn.

“We still have games to win.”

Despite their title destiny being firmly on themselves, Demichelis has stated that the control will only add pressure to their Premier League challenge.

Provided there are no more twists and turns in the title race, the Sky Blues can win the trophy at the Etihad in front of their own fans, something that the 33-year-old defender believes will be vital.

“We are so close now to winning the title but the most important thing at this stage is how we manage the pressure,” added Demichelis. “We know that we are almost there but we haven't achieved our goal yet. I hope that we can isolate ourselves from that.

"Fans have the right to live the moment with passion but we need to stay focused on our game exclusively.”

“We need to take advantage of playing at home. We have a great chance and we are playing here with our home supporters.”
