Chelsea striker Fernando Torres, who looks set to leave Stamford Bridge, continues to be Inter’s main transfer target for this summer, according to the Corriere dello Sport.

Torres is among a number of strikers identified by Inter as potential targets, but they see the 30-year-old as their most realistic chance, with Real Madrid’s Alvaro Morata seen as too much of a risk and Manchester City’s Edin Dzeko unlikely to be tempted away from the Premier League title favourites.

Erick Thohir, president of the Serie A club, is looking to sign Torres on an initial loan deal with the option of making the move permanent at the end of next season, as he hopes that Chelsea can cover as much as half of the Spaniard’s €7m yearly wage.

Blues boss Jose Mourinho is expected to dispense with Torres’ services during the summer of three years of underachievement in West London since signing from Liverpool for £50m in January 2011.

Torres is not the only striker expected to leave Chelsea over the summer, with Demba Ba keen on a move away, and Mourinho is setting his sights on Atletico Madrid star Diego Costa. Should Costa make the move to Chelsea, that could open the door for Torres to head to the San Siro.
