Liverpool make Tello approach
Liverpool have approached Barcelona over the possibility of signing unsettled forward Cristian Tello, the Metro has reported.
The 22-year-old Spaniard is frustrated at the lack of first team opportunities he has been given under Gerardo Martino, making just two La Liga starts all season with all of his other appearances coming from the bench with Alexis Sanchez and Pedro Rodriguez among those preferred on the left-wing.
Arsenal and Tottenham are both rumoured to be interested in Tello, but Liverpool appear to be the frontrunners to claim his signature as they look to expand their squad ahead of next season, when they will be involved in the Champions League.
Reds boss Brendan Rodgers has given the go-ahead to club officials to try negotiate a mooted £8m deal for Tello, who has reportedly been told that he is free to find a new club with Barcelona planning to overhaul their squad during the transfer window.
Tello has spent his entire career with Barcelona, scoring 20 goals in his 85 appearances, of which 59 have come from the bench. A move to Anfield now looks likely.
