No Arsenal overhaul, says Wenger

Arsene Wenger had insisted Arsenal are not in need of a major overhaul this summer despite again falling short in their Premier League title challenge, ESPN has reported.

Arsene Wenger

The manager was asked at a Press conference if he felt the Gunners required a ‘massive’ transfer splurge to compete with the likes of Manchester City, and responded that in his opinion, the gap between the teams isn’t that big.

“It depends what you call massive. Seven points is nothing, it's two games,” Wenger argued. “If you look at it, every team at the top four is frustrated. You think we could have got this point here, this point there, we would win the league. You look at Chelsea and Liverpool, they could say the same.

“We have to continue to develop as a team. We have bridged a gap [from last season] and we want to be better next season. How do we achieve that? We have hard work.

“My team has shown a remarkable mental attitude in their consistency. I'm proud of the way we have responded. We are looking at aspects where we can improve internally I am convinced we can do it.”

Arsenal were top of the table as recently as February before a slump saw City, Liverpool and Chelsea go in front. But Arsenal did see off competition from Everton to secure fourth place and a return to the Champions League.

“We have been 128 days at the top of the Premier League, so we won the stamina league, but we failed in some big games away from home,” Wenger added.

It would appear according to reports that we long suffering Arsenal supporters will have to endure at least another two years of hearing and listening to Wenger's utmost drivel when he opens his mouth regarding the current Arsenal's mental attitude. How can anyone mention a "stamina league" tied to a team who plays their "passing" football at an ever slower pace as the season progresses????
