The Gunners boss stressed however that Wilshere may only have minimal game time under his belt by the start of the tournament. “I don't know how much,” Wenger admitted. “He will be ready for the World Cup, but I don't want to make an individual case of anybody, it is important for us that our team are prepared well.”

Wilshere is in line to feature for Arsenal against relegation-threatened Norwich City on Sunday. It will be the midfielder’s first appearance since England’s 1-0 friendly win over Denmark on March 5. Wilshere played an hour of the fixture but suffered a broken foot in the process.

Arsenal face Hull City in the FA Cup final on May 17, although it is thought thatWilshere is unlikely to be involved. Prior to his injury against the Danes, Wilshere had made 41 appearances this season for club and country, scoring five times.
