Man Utd and Chelsea target Cavani wants PSG talks before deciding future
Man Utd and Chelsea target Edinson Cavani has refused to comment on his footballing future the current season, giving the Premier League clubs hope that they can lure the highly rated striker to English shores in the summer, according to The Daily Star.
The 27-year-old is said to be unsettled at Parc des Princes, believing himself to playing in the shadow of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, but on Thursday PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi refuted any claims that the €64.5m star could be on his way out of the club after only one season in France.
Cavani, however, is thought to want talks with the club before making any decisions on his future beyond the World Cup, and despite being believed to be unsettled he was keen to downplay any murmurings that he was keen to leave.
The former Napoli striker said: “My first season in France has been beautiful, despite all controversies around me. Will I stay at PSG next season? I will surely talk with the chairman, and with the club.
“If I have important things to say, I will do it in-house. I believe we will all do our best for things to go off smoothly.”
He also did not comment one way or another when L'Equipe asked him about the reported interest from England, specifically United. He said: “I don't know what is true or not in when you hear things like that.”
It is thought that United are keen to add him to their ranks after confirming the identity of their new manager, believed to be Netherlands boss Louis van Gaal, after the end of the season. They are reportedly preparing a £54m bid to PSG, though Chelsea have also held a longstanding interest in his services.
