Man Utd make £27m bid for Shaw

Manchester United have made Southampton an offer of £27m for highly-rated teenage left-back Luke Shaw, according to the Daily Telegraph.

Luke Shaw

The 18-year-old Shaw is set to be named in the England squad for the World Cup on Monday after a fine season in which he started all 38 of the Saints’ Premier League games, where he has become noticed for his confidence, maturity, and making marauding runs down the left flank.

Speculation has linked Man Utd with a move for Shaw throughout the season, along with his Southampton teammate, Adam Lallana. The Red Devils have now finally made their first move as they look to lure Shaw to Old Trafford and make him one of the World’s most expensive full-backs.

Man Utd are to set to heavily rebuild their squad this summer as they look to recover from their worst ever Premier League season in which they finished seventh, just eight points above Shaw’s side. Louis van Gaal is expected to become the club’s new manager, but they have already begun their summer of transfer activity.

Should a deal go through, Shaw will become the world’s most expensive teenager, beating the £26.4m that was spent by Man Utd for Wayne Rooney back in 2004.
