German champions Bayern Munich are poised to make a £25m bid for Chelsea defender David Luiz, who is thought to be open to a summer move, according to the

Daily Mail.

David Luiz

Luiz has been in and out of the Chelsea starting XI since Jose Mourinho returned to the club in June 2013, with English duo Gary Cahill and John Terry his preferred central defensive pairing. And with the arrival of Nemanja Matic in January, the Brazilian has also found opportunities to play in a midfield role hard to come by.

Barcelona is thought to be his more desired destination, but no deal between the Catalans and Chelsea has been agreed, with some staff at the Spanish title contenders unsure whether Luiz would be a suitable signing.

Bayern boss Josep Guardiola is a known admirer of Luiz, having tried to sign him when he was manager of Barcelona, but he may be forced to wait until after the World Cup for any deal to take place with Brazil boss Luiz Felipe Scolari keen for his players not to be distracted by ongoing negotiations.

The 27-year-old Luiz joined Chelsea in January 2011 and has gone on to win both major European competitions, making a total of 143 appearances and scoring 12 goals.
